About Me

I am working since countless lightyears with IBM in Communications and did a lot of "crazy" IBM projects over the years - most of them in the music area like "Herbie Hancock meets Herbie Hancock" in 1986 (on the Boesendorfer Computer Grand Piano) and follow up projects with Herbie Hancok, Joe Zawinul and Friedrich Gulda in 1987. Between all this unsual projects my "normal" tasks were editor-of-chief for IBM Germany's employee magazine, responsible for TV sponsoring or establish IBM's Intranet-TV and Teamleader Internal Communications.

As a writer, 1994 I did an article about IBM in South Africa for the worldwide IBM Magazine "Think". As an additional "output" to the article I created the music project "Songs Of Good Hope" - 17 song lyrics abouth South Africa. A first pilot of this project runs 1998 and 1999 - a South African/German band called SAWUBONA which supported a home for steetkids in Bloemfontein, South Africa. 2006 I started the IBM MusicJam project "Songs Of Good Hope to relaunch the South Africa initiative.

During the last 30 years with IBM I did a lot of "unexpected" projects. One of the absolutly unexpected was an interview with the singer/songwriter of The Kinks, Ray Davies. Background was IBM's Innovation Campaign, which started in 2006. IBM used the Kinks song"I'm Not Like Everybody Else", which is more or less the hymn of The Kinks. As I told my wife Cornelia during breakfast Sunday morning about IBM and The Kinks, she said to me: "You have to do an interview with Ray". The sounds crazy but she knew that I am a fan since 1964. Thanks to Cornelia, the IBM Communications Colleagues in Armonk N.Y. (Rosa & John) - and of course thanks Martin & Ray - we really made it in April 2006 at the Renaissance Hotel, Hamburg. You can read the the interview "Not Like Everybody Else - the Interview with Ray Davies" on the Kinks Homepage: http://kinks.it.rit.edu/misc/interview-20060427-huober.html

What ever you think about IBM - this company has no limits to do innovative, unexpected, new, creative and sometimes even crazy things. That's of course a mystery - between you and me. Please, don't tell this around. (:--))))!!
